Temporary power outage in several areas due to Dhekelia fault

Date:

A technical fault at the Dekelia Power Station early on Tuesday morning caused electricity outages in several areas across Cyprus, according to the Cyprus Transmission System Operator (TSO).

The operator said the Dekelia power fault occurred at 6:50 am, resulting in the loss of Generation Unit GT/S 4 at the Dekelia Power Station, which was operating at 51MW.

The incident led to load shedding in various parts of the island to help stabilise the electricity network.

Efforts underway to restore supply

The Cyprus Transmission System Operator said continuous efforts are being made to restore electricity supply as quickly as possible.

No further details have been released on the cause of the technical fault or when full power will be restored.
