Storms expected across Cyprus with snowfall in Troodos

Today, the weather will be partly cloudy and at times mostly cloudy, with isolated showers expected. A brief isolated thunderstorm is also possible, mainly in the mountainous regions but also in areas in the west and south. Snow or sleet is expected on the highest peaks of Troodos. Winds will be mainly north-easterly to south-easterly, light to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea will generally be slight to moderate. The temperature will rise to around 16°C inland, around 18°C on the coasts, and around 7°C in the higher mountainous areas.

Tonight, locally increased clouds will be observed at intervals, which later in coastal areas may give isolated showers. Light snow or sleet may fall on the highest peaks of Troodos. Thin mist or fog will form in places, particularly in inland and eastern areas, where visibility may temporarily be limited. Winds will be north-westerly to north-easterly and south-easterly in the northern coastal areas, light, 3 Beaufort. The sea will generally be calm to slight. The temperature will drop to around 6°C inland, around 9°C on the coasts, and around 2°C in the higher mountainous areas, where frost will form locally.

On Saturday, the weather will be mostly cloudy with local showers and isolated thunderstorms, initially in the west and progressively in other parts of the island. Snow or sleet will fall on the highest peaks of Troodos. On Saturday evening and beyond, the phenomena will mainly be limited to coastal areas, where they may occasionally be prolonged.

On Sunday, the weather will remain mostly cloudy with local showers and isolated thunderstorms. Snow or sleet will fall on the highest peaks of Troodos. On Monday, locally increased clouds will be observed at intervals, which are expected to bring isolated showers.

The temperature until Sunday is not expected to change significantly and will remain close to the seasonal average. However, on Monday, it will rise slightly, reaching a level slightly above the average climatic values.
