Attack inside nightclub under investigation

A stabbing incident in Larnaca is being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Larnaca after a 19-year-old man was seriously injured in an attack at a nightclub.

Police are searching for a 24-year-old suspect in connection with the case, which includes charges of attempted murder, grievous bodily harm and possession of a knife.

Altercation inside crowded venue

According to CID Larnaca head Giorgos Charalambous, both the suspect and the victim were at the same nightclub in a coastal area of Larnaca on Sunday night.

He said the two men were not known to each other, and the incident appears to have started after a minor collision inside the crowded venue, which escalated into a physical confrontation.

The victim reportedly suffered a blow to the face before returning to his table, where he later felt a burning sensation and noticed he was bleeding.

Serious injury to the kidney area

The 19-year-old was taken to the hospital by friends, where doctors found a 3cm penetrating wound in the right kidney area and a ruptured kidney caused by a sharp object.

Although his condition is serious, doctors say he is currently out of immediate danger and remains under inpatient care.

Suspect identified and wanted

Police forensic teams examined the scene and collected evidence, which led to the identification of the suspect. A warrant for his arrest has been issued, and he is currently being sought by authorities.

Investigation ongoing

The CID Larnaca continues its investigation into the Larnaca stabbing incident, with police confirming that inquiries are ongoing to fully establish the circumstances of the attack.
