A low-pressure system bringing rain and storms is expected to affect Cyprus from Monday afternoon, according to former Director of the Meteorology Department, Cleanthis Nicolaides.
Speaking on the Protoselido programme, Nicolaides stated that by Thursday, northern air currents will cause a significant drop in temperature. If the winds do not subside by Friday, night-time temperatures could drop to zero degrees Celsius inland.
He noted that light snowfall is expected initially, but by Saturday, snowfall will expand to several areas, including inland regions, with even lower temperatures.
Nicolaides also pointed out that Israel is concerned about this weather system, as the alignment of its mountains is directly in the path of the general weather flow. Therefore, authorities are monitoring potential snowfall to ensure preparedness for public health and safety measures.
