Six children and their parents were injured in a traffic collision in the Paphos district on Sunday evening, with all nine occupants of the two vehicles taken to hospital.
The crash occurred at around 6:10pm on the Aksylou–Nata road in Paphos. According to police, one car driven by a 42-year-old man, with his 38-year-old wife in the passenger seat and their three children in the back — girls aged eight and three, and a six-year-old boy — collided under circumstances still under investigation with another car driven by a 29-year-old man. The second vehicle carried his 27-year-old wife and their three children — a five-month-old baby girl, a four-year-old girl and a two-year-old boy.
All nine people were taken to Paphos General Hospital, where doctors confirmed that the three-year-old girl from the first family was uninjured. The six-year-old boy suffered a fractured pelvis, while the eight-year-old girl sustained a lung contusion.
The five-month-old baby from the second family suffered a head haematoma, the two-year-old boy a laceration, and the four-year-old girl bruising to the head.
The three-year-old girl was kept at Paphos General Hospital for observation, while the other injured children were transferred to Makarios Hospital in Nicosia for further treatment.
The 42-year-old driver was discharged without injuries, while his 38-year-old wife sustained a fractured sternum and remains hospitalised in Paphos. The 29-year-old driver and his 27-year-old wife were also kept for observation as a precaution.
All those involved are reported to be in stable condition.
