Nationwide patrols across urban areas
Cyprus police operations were intensified overnight across the island, with coordinated patrols carried out in key urban areas aimed at preventing serious criminal activity and strengthening public safety.
According to the Police, the operations focused on maintaining public order and increasing the sense of security among citizens.
Five arrests and multiple offences recorded
During the Cyprus police operations, five individuals were arrested for various offences, including illegal possession of property and assaulting police officers.
Authorities said the operations formed part of ongoing efforts to combat crime through increased visibility and targeted enforcement.
Hundreds of vehicle and identity checks
Police stopped 435 vehicles and checked 518 drivers and passengers during the night.
In addition, 24 premises were inspected, resulting in four reported violations related to operating licence conditions.
Traffic violations and roadside testing
A total of 196 traffic offences were recorded during the operations, with 93 cases involving speeding.
Officers also carried out 72 alcohol tests, with one driver found positive.
Nine preliminary drug tests were conducted, resulting in four positive readings.
Four vehicles were also seized during the checks.
Ongoing enforcement actions
Police said that coordinated enforcement operations will continue daily, with increased presence, targeted inspections, and rapid response measures.
The aim, authorities added, is to further enhance public safety and protect citizens while ensuring the maintenance of public order.
