Anita Demetriou cites “unusual party consultations” over House presidency

Date:

DISY President Anita Demetriou has once again expressed her intention to seek re-election as Speaker of the House of Representatives in a video posted on social media.

In her statement, Demetriou referred to what she described as “unusual consultations” among political parties.

At the same time, she stressed that “throughout my entire political journey, I have always been CLEAR and HONEST with the citizens.”

“The successful presidency of the House over the past five years, as well as the strong mandate we received, constitute for us the political justification for our decision to contest the presidency,” she said.

Demetriou’s remarks come amid ongoing discussions and political maneuvering ahead of the election for the next Speaker of the House, with parties weighing their positions and potential alliances.
