Police believe they recovered the knife used in the brutal stabbing of 26-year-old Alexandros Antoniou from Paphos.
Antoniou died last Saturday from fatal wounds suffered in the attack in Konia.
Knife found in Mesogi field
Officers located the weapon in a field in Mesogi after evaluating tips received.
They placed the indicated spot under guard all night.
Local council members from Mesogi helped clear the area yesterday morning. Police then found the knife, which they believe was the murder weapon.
Forensic testing underway
Officers seized the knife as evidence and sent it for scientific examination to confirm it matches the fatal stabbing.
A 58-year-old Greek Cypriot remains in custody on premeditated murder charges.
Antoniou suffered multiple stab wounds during a confrontation outside a kiosk in Konia on 19 November 2025. The suspect allegedly attacked after a verbal altercation. Antoniou lingered in critical condition until his death on 23 November 2025.
The case stemmed from a prior harassment complaint filed by a 26-year-old woman against Antoniou hours before the stabbing. She alleged he slashed her car tires the night before. Police deny negligence in handling the report.
