Cyprus’ Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) was mobilised early on Saturday morning after a swimmer was at risk of drowning off the coast of Chloraka.
According to police, strong winds and rough sea conditions created hazardous circumstances, leaving the swimmer in distress.
The JRCC immediately activated rescue procedures and requested the assistance of a police helicopter for the rescue operation.
However, the swimmer was spotted by a lifeguard before the helicopter arrived. The lifeguard successfully rescued the individual and brought them safely back to shore.
