Police are investigating a car crash that occurred shortly before 9pm on Sunday evening in Paphos, which resulted in the injury of two minors.
The collision took place on Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue when a car driven by a 40-year-old man, with his 41-year-old wife in the passenger seat and their two children aged 17 and 9 in the back, crashed under circumstances still under investigation with another car driven by a 19-year-old, who also had a 19-year-old passenger.
The 40-year-old woman, the two children, and both 19-year-olds were taken by ambulance to Paphos General Hospital. The woman and the two 19-year-olds were later discharged. The 17-year-old, who sustained a neck injury, was transferred to Nicosia General Hospital, while the 9-year-old girl, who suffered a pelvic injury, was transferred to Archbishop Makarios III Hospital in Nicosia. Both remain hospitalised, though their condition is not life-threatening.
The 40-year-old driver underwent an alcohol test, which showed a reading of 23μg, just above the permitted limit of 22μg.
