Drug seizures have reached 323kg of cannabis and cannabis resin and 81kg of cocaine since the beginning of 2026, according to the Police.
The Drug Law Enforcement Unit (DLEU) continues targeted operations across Cyprus to identify and seize drugs and arrest people suspected of possessing or trafficking controlled substances.
On Monday, DLEU officers searched a home in Nicosia under a court warrant. The property is occupied by a 33-year-old man.
During the search, officers found 2kg and 5g of cannabis and 266g of cocaine, which had been carefully concealed in different parts of the home.
The 33-year-old was arrested and remains in custody. He is expected to appear before the Nicosia District Court on Tuesday, where police will seek a detention order.
Drugs found in Limassol car
In a separate case, police stopped a car in an area of Limassol on Monday afternoon after officers noticed it being driven suspiciously. The vehicle, driven by a 21-year-old man, did not have a front registration plate.
A search of the vehicle uncovered four nylon packages containing 46g of cannabis and another package containing approximately 3.5g of cocaine.
Police also found €1,850 in cash, precision scales, disposable gloves and other evidence.
The 21-year-old was initially arrested for an offence committed in the presence of police and was later re-arrested under a court warrant and placed in custody.
Arrests in Larnaca, Ayia Napa and Paphos
Meanwhile, a 20-year-old man was arrested on Monday as part of an investigation into a drug possession case in the Larnaca district dating back to August 13.
The case involves 342g of cannabis and cannabis resin and 5g of cocaine.
A 22-year-old man had previously been arrested in connection with the same case and was remanded in custody for four days.
Five more drug possession cases were recorded overnight in Ayia Napa and Paphos, resulting in the arrest of five people aged 23, 25, 26, 27 and 29.
Police report 404kg of drugs seized
Police said the latest operations form part of sustained efforts by the DLEU to combat drug trafficking and protect the public from the effects of controlled substances.
From January 1, 2026, until Tuesday, the unit has seized a total of 323kg of cannabis and cannabis resin and 81kg of cocaine.
Police said the figures, together with ongoing operations, searches and arrests, demonstrate the continued action against drug trafficking and dealing.
Investigations into all the cases are continuing.
