Oil prices surge on Thursday after Trump threatens Iran

Brent and WTI see sharp rises

Brent crude oil jumped over 7% on Thursday, while US crude (WTI) surged more than 11%, following threats by US President Donald Trump to launch stronger attacks on Iran if the country does not agree to a ceasefire. The warnings heightened fears of escalation in the conflict.

Current oil prices

Brent crude closed at $109.03 per barrel, up 7.7%, while WTI closed at $111.54 per barrel, marking an 11.4% increase.

Over the past month, WTI has risen by 49%, while Brent crude has increased by 33%, reflecting growing volatility and market concern over geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
