A shocking domestic dispute escalated into tragedy around 2 PM on Sunday, 28 of December, at Lokridis Street 37 in Athens’ Gkyzi district. The 66-year-old man, born in 1951, stabbed his 67-year-old wife, born in 1958, severely in the neck during an argument in their ground-floor apartment. He then accessed the rooftop, crossed to a neighboring building, and jumped to his immediate death.
Eyewitnesses reported the couple’s intense fight, alerting ELAS shortly after 2:05 PM.
Victim’s critical condition
The wheelchair-bound, bedridden woman suffered a deep tracheal wound. EKAV rushed her to Gennimatas Hospital, where she remains in extremely critical condition under intensive monitoring.
Despair in handwritten note
The perpetrator left a note to a relative confessing he “couldn’t take the situation at home anymore,” linked to caregiving strains for his disabled wife. Police hold it as central evidence in the ongoing investigation into psychological factors.
ELAS continues probing motives and circumstances.
