Nicosia 2030, the city’s campaign for the European Capital of Culture title, will host the inauguration of the highly anticipated exhibition Art in Democracy, curated by the European Parliament. This exhibition seeks to explore the deep connections between art and democratic values, presenting a diverse range of works that reflect cultural expressions of freedom, justice, and civic engagement.
The event will be held on Monday, 18 November 2024, at 19:00 at the Nicosia Town Hall in Eleftherias Square. The President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr Nikos Christodoulides, will formally open the exhibition, underscoring Cyprus’s commitment to fostering cultural dialogue and showcasing the role of art as a democratic force.
The Art in Democracy exhibition is part of a broader series of cultural initiatives aimed at promoting Nicosia as a candidate for the 2030 European Capital of Culture. The public is invited to attend the inauguration ceremony and experience the works on display, contributing to the cultural conversation at the heart of the city’s bid for the prestigious European title.
