The Department of Meteorology has issued a yellow weather warning in Cyprus, valid from 5:00 am until 4:00 pm on Wednesday.
The forecast includes a combination of rain and isolated thunderstorms, mainly in the southern, eastern, and possibly northern areas as well as the mountains.
In thunderstorm areas, hail is possible, while winds will be variable and strengthening. Rainfall intensity is expected to range between 35 and 55 millimetres per hour, with total precipitation around 50 millimetres over the six-hour period.

The barometric low named “Byron” is affecting the region. Weather phenomena will gradually weaken by evening on Wednesday evening.
Today the weather will be mainly cloudy with periods of local rain and isolated thunderstorms expected. Hail is possible during thunderstorms. Winds will blow mainly northerly to north-easterly, light to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort, and locally strong to very strong at times, 5 to 6 Beaufort. The sea will be slight on the western coasts and slight to rough on the remaining coasts. Temperature will rise to around 18°C inland, around 20°C on the coasts, and around 9°C in the higher mountains.
Tonight the weather will be occasionally partly cloudy, with isolated showers possible, mainly in coastal areas. Light snowfall is not ruled out on the highest peaks of Troodos. Winds will blow mainly north-westerly to north-easterly, light to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea will be slight to rough. Temperature will fall to around 10°C inland, around 12°C on the coasts, and around 2°C in the higher mountains, where frost may form locally.
On Thursday the weather will be partly cloudy with isolated showers or an isolated thunderstorm possible at times.
On Friday and Saturday the weather will be occasionally partly cloudy.
Temperature will show no significant change on Thursday, remaining close to average climatic values. A gradual slight rise is expected on Friday and Saturday.
