Mother allegedly gave sedatives to her 7-year-old child

Date:

A mother is in police custody in connection with a Limassol sedative case involving her seven-year-old child, after both were found unconscious at their home on Tuesday afternoon.

The father discovered his wife and child unresponsive and initially believed they were asleep. When they failed to react, he immediately called an ambulance.

Hospital findings and treatment

Doctors transferred the mother and child to a private hospital, where examinations detected traces of tranquilising substances in their systems. Medical staff administered the appropriate treatment to both.

Authorities were informed by the hospital, and police proceeded to take statements as part of the investigation.

Arrest and ongoing investigation

During inquiries into the case, police arrested the mother on suspicion that she may have administered the pills to the minor. A government doctor also examined her and issued an order for hospitalisation.

Both mother and daughter are now out of danger after receiving urgent medical care. However, investigators concluded that the sedatives were allegedly given to the child by the mother.

Following these developments and the issuance of a court warrant, police carried out the arrest. Authorities also ordered compulsory hospitalisation, and the woman was transferred to Athalassa Hospital for further evaluation and monitoring.

The Limassol CID continues to investigate the case.
