Machinery was destroyed in a fire that broke out just after midnight at a livestock facility in Dromolaxia, with the cause to be investigated later.
According to the Police Communication Branch, the fire started around 12:30am on Monday. Fire Service personnel arrived on the scene and managed to extinguish the blaze. The fire caused damage to machinery on the premises.
Police officers also attended the scene to conduct investigations. No other livestock units in the area were at risk from the fire.
The cause of the fire will be jointly investigated today by the Police, the Fire Service, and the Electromechanical Services Department.
Fire Service Spokesperson Andreas Kettis stated in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that Larnaca fire stations responded at 00:13 with three fire engines.
“The facility was also used as a residence and contained household items, waste materials, and electrical appliances. Firefighters used water hoses and breathing apparatus to extinguish the blaze. No one had been living on the premises recently,” he added, confirming that the cause would be examined later today in cooperation with the Police.
In the past 24 hours, the Fire Service responded to 33 incidents – 28 fires and 5 special services, according to Mr Kettis.
