Major crash shuts down Nicosia–Limassol highway near Skarinou

A traffic accident occurred on the Limassol–Nicosia highway on Monday afternoon, resulting in the closure of the road.

According to preliminary information from the Police, two lorries appear to have been involved in the collision.

Traffic has come to a standstill, according to drivers at the scene, while a Police helicopter is carrying out aerial water drops.

Witnesses told SigmaLive that thick black smoke has covered the area.

Highway closed

Due to a collision involving three lorries that occurred recently on the Nicosia–Limassol highway (between Kofinou and Skarinou), all lanes in both directions have been closed.

Drivers are urged to follow Police instructions and use the old Nicosia–Limassol road in both directions.
