Meniko farm fire likely started from high thermal load

Date:

A farmer in Meniko, Nicosia District, suffered devastating losses after a fire engulfed his farm.

Fire spreads rapidly

Fire Service spokesperson Andreas Kettis said the blaze caused extensive destruction, making it difficult to locate key evidence. He noted that the fire likely started from a gas system and the farm’s electrical installation and spread rapidly.

“The fire expanded very quickly due to the high thermal load from the materials in the livestock building,” Kettis added.

Authorities investigate

The Fire Service continues to investigate the cause of the fire. Meanwhile, police have ruled out any malicious intent.
