Limassol rape case brought as 14-year-old giving birth shocks city

19-year-old arrested and remanded

The Limassol rape case has sparked shock after a 19-year-old Syrian national was brought before the District Court of Limassol on Sunday (April 19).

Authorities are investigating serious offences, including the sexual abuse of a minor and rape. The suspect was arrested following police investigations and has been placed in custody.

Case uncovered after hospital admission

The case came to light on November 5, 2025, when a 14-year-old girl was taken to Limassol General Hospital suffering from severe pain.

During medical examinations, doctors discovered that she was 34 weeks pregnant. Medical staff proceeded with an emergency delivery and subsequently notified police, triggering an investigation.

Victim reports sexual assault

According to information obtained, the minor was later moved to a safe location, where she reported to police that the pregnancy resulted from rape.

She stated that she had been assaulted by an unknown man of Syrian origin, who allegedly took her to a secluded area in Limassol.

Multiple charges under investigation

Following coordinated police inquiries, the 19-year-old suspect was identified and arrested.

Authorities are investigating multiple offences against him, including rape, sexual abuse of a minor, abduction for unlawful confinement, threats, and possession of a weapon.

Investigations into the Limassol rape case are ongoing.
