Limassol motorcycle chase ends in collision and arrest

Members of the Limassol Police conducted a motorized patrol yesterday evening when they signaled a motorcycle to stop for inspection. The 29-year-old rider ignored the signal and attempted to flee, lightly injuring a police officer in the process.

The suspect continued driving recklessly, violating traffic signals, before colliding with a police motorcycle and overturning on the road.

After the collision, the rider pushed another police officer, resulting in his arrest for in-the-act offenses.

Alcohol test exceeds legal limit

Police performed an alcohol test on the 29-year-old, which showed a reading of 14μg, exceeding the legal limit of 9μg.

Injuries sustained

The injured officer was taken by ambulance to Limassol General Hospital. Doctors confirmed the officer suffered a sprain to the elbow, right knee, and left shoulder, along with multiple abrasions.

Investigation ongoing

The Limassol Traffic Department, in collaboration with the Agios Ioannis Police Station, continues to investigate the incident.
