Violent clash in Limassol between foreign nationals – 12 arrests

Date:

Police are investigating a Limassol violent clash involving a series of serious offences, including conspiracy to commit a felony and misdemeanour, riot, kidnapping, common assault, causing grievous bodily harm, and possession of offensive weapons.

According to information under examination, at around 9pm on Monday evening, police received a report of a fight in the Agia Zoni area of Limassol.

Blood traces and objects found at scene

Members of the Limassol Police Department and the Limassol CID responded to the scene, where examinations revealed bloodstains, a metal object bearing traces of blood, and a pair of shoes.

Further investigations led officers to an apartment in the same area, where 12 individuals were located, including an 18-year-old who was found with injuries to his head, legs, and other parts of his body.

Injured individuals treated and released

An ambulance was called to the scene and transported the 18-year-old to Limassol General Hospital. Investigations indicated that an altercation had preceded the incident, during which two additional individuals were also injured.

All three injured persons were taken to Limassol General Hospital, where they received first aid and were later discharged.

Weapons seized and arrests made

A search of the apartment resulted in the discovery of two cricket bats, which appeared to bear stains believed to be blood. The items were seized as evidence.

Arrest warrants were issued against all 12 individuals, who were subsequently arrested to facilitate police investigations.

The Limassol CID continues its inquiries into the case.
