Older travellers have more time, financial flexibility, and often avoid peak seasons, supporting sustainable tourism – Cyprus villages among most popular spots
TUI, one of the world’s largest travel operators, has released a new study highlighting the best destinations in Europe for travellers over the age of 65—the so-called baby boomer generation. According to data from the TUI Musement platform, Larnaca, Cyprus, has emerged as the number one choice, with two Greek islands also featured among the top seven destinations.
The study is based on reviews and bookings made by travellers aged 65+, identifying destinations that best cater to their preferences and needs. TUI notes that the over-65 population in the European Union has grown significantly in recent years, now making up 21% of the total population. Older travellers tend to have more time and financial comfort and often travel outside of peak seasons, which contributes positively to the sustainability of the tourism sector.
