65-year-old says meeting turned violent
Police are investigating a case involving robbery, kidnapping, theft, assault causing actual bodily harm and other serious offences against a 65-year-old man in Larnaca district.
According to the complaint made by the victim, the incident took place on Monday when he met three men in the district, two of whom he knew. The two men are aged 32 and 42.
The 65-year-old alleged that during the meeting, the 42-year-old assaulted him before stealing €300 in cash, his mobile phone and the keys to his vehicle.
Victim allegedly forced into car
The complainant further told police that the three men then forced him into a car driven by the third suspect, whose identity was initially unknown, and drove him to premises he owns in a village in Larnaca district.
Once there, the suspects allegedly took the keys to another of his vehicles and loaded it with various items from the property before fleeing the scene in an unknown direction.
Two suspects arrested
As part of the investigation, police secured court warrants for the arrest of the 32-year-old and 42-year-old suspects.
During a coordinated operation by officers from the Nicosia CID, the two men were located and arrested in Nicosia district. A third individual was also found with them and was later identified as the third suspect referred to in the victim’s complaint.
The three suspects are expected to appear before the Larnaca District Court today, where police will seek detention orders to facilitate further investigations.
The case is being investigated by Kofinou Police Station.
