Concern continues to grow over the fate of 22-year-old Bangladeshi student Shahruar Ahmed Emon, who has been missing since last Friday, as police investigations focus on all possible scenarios, including suspected abduction.
The missing student had been living with other individuals in an apartment in Oroklini. On June 12, he was due to begin his first day of work at a factory in the Kofinou area. According to information, he had not informed his flatmates about the exact location where he would be working.
Later that same evening, the 22-year-old reportedly sent a location through a mobile messaging application to a friend. No communication followed after that, prompting concern among authorities and his family.
Ransom demands sent to father
Hours after his disappearance, the young man’s father, who lives abroad, reportedly received a phone call from an unknown individual, followed by written messages through a communication application.
According to messages obtained by Sigma correspondent Elena Louka, those involved allegedly demanded large sums of money for the release of the missing student. Initial demands reportedly sought €10,000 by Sunday and an additional €25,000 by Monday.
The family, attempting to verify that the missing student remained alive, asked those behind the messages to send a recent photograph or voice recording as proof that he was safe and in good health. They also said they were trying to respond to the demands.
Disturbing threats emerge
Authorities also view the content of certain messages as deeply concerning. One message allegedly warned that if payment was not made, those responsible would remove one of the victim’s kidneys.
The individuals behind the messages also reportedly warned the family against contacting others or informing authorities, threatening that they would never see the young man again if they did.

Police continue investigations
According to a report by Philenews, the last signal from the student’s mobile phone was allegedly traced to the Kofinou area. Police have neither confirmed nor denied the information, stating that investigators will not release details concerning mobile phone location data at this stage.
Investigators continue examining all available evidence as efforts intensify to locate the missing student and determine the circumstances surrounding his disappearance.
Police appeal for information
Police have released new photographs of Shahruar Ahmed Emon and appealed to the public for information that could assist in locating him.
The 22-year-old is described as having an average build, standing approximately 1.80 metres tall, with black hair.
