27-year-old dies after stealing car and crashing in central Nicosia

Police are investigating the exact circumstances surrounding a fatal crash in Nicosia that claimed the life of a 27-year-old Syrian man.

According to available information, the man allegedly entered a car dealership on Wednesday afternoon. Reports indicate that tension developed at the scene before he allegedly got into a vehicle and left the area.

Crash in central Nicosia

The 27-year-old later became involved in a traffic collision in central Nicosia, near the Solomou Square area.

According to information, the vehicle – reportedly stolen – crashed into a concrete barrier. Witnesses said the man was initially conscious following the incident and passers-by alerted emergency services.

He was transported to the Nicosia General Hospital for treatment.

Police investigate cause of death

The 27-year-old died from his injuries during the early hours of Thursday.

Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the fatal crash, while a legal post-mortem examination is expected to determine the exact cause of death.

The investigation remains ongoing.
