Cypriot Paralympian Karolina Pelendritou has secured another major achievement, winning the silver medal in the 100m breaststroke at the World Championship in Singapore.
The three-time Paralympic champion delivered her best performance of the year, finishing with a time of 1:21.72. She placed just behind Russia’s Daria Lukianenko, who took gold with a winning time of 1:18.25.
This latest medal comes after Pelendritou also won silver in the 50m freestyle at the same competition. With the new result, her total tally at World Championships has now reached 15 medals, underlining her status as one of Cyprus’ most successful athletes.
China’s Jia Ma, who had finished second at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games where Pelendritou took bronze, came third with a time of 1:25.95.
Pelendritou continues to be a source of pride for Cyprus, consistently competing at the highest international level and adding to her remarkable career record.
