Israeli President Isaac Herzog is arriving in Cyprus today on an official visit at the invitation of President Nikos Christodoulides.
Herzog will be received at the Presidential Palace by Christodoulides, with the two leaders scheduled to hold a private meeting focused on ways to deepen cooperation and strengthen relations between Cyprus and Israel.
According to a statement from the Israeli presidency, the visit comes as part of the continuing cooperation and regular contacts between the two presidents, aimed at further developing bilateral relations.
Temporary road closures in Larnaca and Nicosia
Cyprus Police have announced heightened security measures during the Israeli president’s visit.
Between 09:00 and 16:00 on Thursday, roads will be temporarily closed for several minutes at a time in Larnaca district, along the Larnaca-Nicosia motorway, and in Nicosia district.
Motorists should therefore expect brief disruptions along the affected routes during the day.
Protest planned outside Presidential Palace
A demonstration against the Herzog Cyprus visit is scheduled to take place outside the Presidential Palace at 18:30.
The protest is being organised by the Cyprus Peace Council together with other anti-war activist organisations.
