War enters sixth day with widening regional impact
The Iran war escalation intensified for a sixth consecutive day as Israel and the United States continued large-scale strikes on Iranian targets, while Tehran responded mainly with attacks on energy infrastructure in Gulf countries.
The growing confrontation is increasingly drawing in additional regional actors, raising concerns over unpredictable developments and the potential expansion of the conflict across the Middle East.
Late on Thursday night, new missile attacks targeted Tel Aviv, while air raid sirens were also reported in Beirut, underscoring the widening geographical scope of the confrontation.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump issued a new warning during a press conference, stating: “This war will end when I decide it will end.”
Hundreds of targets hit across Iran
According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), Israeli and US forces struck approximately 200 targets across western and central Iran on Thursday alone.
Among the sites reportedly hit was a stadium in Tehran believed to have been used as a headquarters by Iranian security forces.
Missile strikes were also reported in the city of Qom, where a missile installation was allegedly being transferred to a testing range. Additional attacks targeted Iranian air defence systems in the city of Isfahan.
Israeli military claims major damage to air defences
Israel’s Chief of the General Staff, Eyal Zamir, claimed Israeli forces had achieved significant operational success during the opening phase of the campaign.
“Our forces opened the road to Tehran within 24 hours and destroyed 80% of its air defence systems,” Zamir said.
He added that the Israeli Air Force had carried out 2,500 strikes and dropped more than 6,000 munitions, destroying approximately 60% of Iran’s missile launch positions.
However, he acknowledged that the threat had not been fully eliminated.
Israeli forces reinforce Lebanon border
At the same time, as aerial strikes were reported in Beirut, Israeli ground forces have continued reinforcing positions along the Israel-Lebanon border, raising fears of a possible expansion of the conflict into Lebanon.
Military analysts warn that if fighting spreads further into Lebanon or across Gulf states, the Iran war could quickly face escalation into a broader regional confrontation.
