Missile strikes escalate as war enters 11th day
Day 11 of the Iran war saw a further escalation of hostilities as missile and drone attacks intensified across the region.
Tehran launched a large-scale attack using ballistic cluster missiles, only hours after Mojtaba Khamenei was elected as Iran’s new leader. The strikes marked one of the most intense bombardments since the conflict began.
Iranian forces also targeted Gulf countries again with drones, expanding the geographical scope of the confrontation and raising concerns about a wider regional war.
Israeli strikes hit Iran and Hezbollah positions
At the same time, Israel continued its sustained bombardment of strategic targets inside Iran.
Israeli forces struck key military facilities and infrastructure, while additional air raids targeted Hezbollah positions in Beirut. The Israeli campaign has focused on weakening Iran’s military capabilities and disrupting allied militia networks across the region.
Trump says war could end soon
US President Donald Trump said the war against Iran “will end soon,” though he did not provide a specific timeline.
He stated that US and Israeli forces were operating “well ahead of schedule” in their military objectives, suggesting that the joint campaign had progressed faster than initially expected.
Warning over the Strait of Hormuz
Trump also warned that Iran would face “much stronger strikes” if it attempted to block oil shipments through the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.
The waterway is one of the world’s most critical energy routes, carrying a significant portion of global oil exports.
Iran says it will decide when the war ends
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards responded to Trump’s remarks by insisting that Tehran- not Washington- would determine when the conflict ends.
A spokesperson said the future balance of power in the region “lies in the hands of our armed forces, not the United States.”
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi also said the Islamic Republic is prepared to continue fighting “for as long as necessary.”
Speaking to PBS, Araghchi rejected Trump’s claim that the war would end soon, stressing that Iran is ready for a prolonged conflict with the United States and Israel.
