High demand for Cyprus-Greece ferry route as bookings open

Date:

On Saturday, 31 May, the passenger car ferry Daleela will set sail from the port of Limassol, marking the launch of this year’s passenger sea connection between Cyprus and Greece. In total, the vessel will complete 22 round trips to and from the port of Piraeus, serving both passengers and vehicles throughout the summer season.

At a press conference held at the Limassol Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Deputy Minister of Shipping Marina Hadjimanoli and the operating company Scandro Holding Ltd presented details regarding the resumption of the ferry service for 2025. The decision to extend the contract for the Cyprus-Greece sea link for another three years (2025–2027) was approved by the Council of Ministers on 23 August 2024.

During the first three years of the route’s operation, Ms Hadjimanoli stated that Daleela transported 22,582 passengers, 772 pets, and 7,641 accompanied vehicles — figures that confirm the growing popularity of the Cyprus-Greece sea connection.

Bookings opened on 2 April

Scandro Holding Ltd CEO Charalambos Manoli announced that the first trip of the season will depart from Limassol on 31 May, while the final sailing from Piraeus is scheduled for 2 September. In total, passengers will be able to choose from 22 sailings.

The booking platform officially opened on 2 April, giving travellers the opportunity to secure their seats early for Daleela’s 2025 summer schedule. Demand for the Cyprus-Greece ferry connection remains high for yet another year.

Within just the first hour of the platform going live, over 100 bookings were made. From 00:01 until 07:30 in the morning, reservations were recorded as follows:

From Limassol to Piraeus: 592 passenger bookings, 237 vehicle bookings, and 6 pet bookings.

From Piraeus to Limassol: 549 passenger bookings, 196 vehicle bookings, and 12 pet bookings.

According to available information, the month with the highest number of bookings so far is August.
