GSI: Greece expected to issue NAVTEX in October

Greece is expected to issue a NAVTEX in October for underwater surveys linked to the installation of the electricity interconnector cable between Greece and Cyprus, under the Great Sea Interconnector (GSI) project.

Speaking to Politis newspaper, Energy, Commerce and Industry Minister Michalis Damianou said the issuance of the navigational warning is expected to pave the way for the release of Cyprus’s €25 million contribution to the GSI project.

The surveys are part of preparations for laying the undersea cable, which is intended to connect the electricity networks of Greece and Cyprus.

The NAVTEX will provide information to vessels about the planned maritime activities.
