Greece plans to acquire Italian and French frigates

Greece is negotiating the purchase of two used ‘Bergamini’ class frigates from Italy as part of a broader initiative to modernize its military capabilities. The country plans to spend €25 billion over several years to enhance its defense infrastructure, including the procurement of submarines, drones, and advanced anti-aircraft systems. Additionally, Greece is in discussions with France to acquire a fourth French Belharra frigate equipped with cruise missile capabilities. These initiatives reflect Greece’s ongoing commitment to strengthening its military readiness within its NATO obligations
