A list of vehicles recalled for airbag replacement or repair has been published by the relevant authorities. The list includes cars that had an active registration or were declared immobilised as of 14 November 2024.
In several cases, the recall is accompanied by a directive for immediate immobilisation, as the affected vehicles are deemed too dangerous for use. The Ministry issued a strong advisory in December 2024, urging vehicle owners not to use these cars and to seek alternative transportation options.
The list has been compiled based on data from the Road Transport Department as of 31 January 2025, gathered either from manufacturers’ distributors or through data analysis conducted by the “KIOS” Centre of Excellence at the University of Cyprus.
For vehicles confirmed by the manufacturer, the recall is final, and owners must take immediate action to carry out the necessary corrective measures.
If the information comes from KIOS’ analysis, owners are advised to contact their vehicle distributor for confirmation of the recall.
In cases where no manufacturer’s distributor is available, the recall information is also considered final, and vehicle owners are required to proceed with the necessary repairs.
Owners are urged to check whether their vehicle is included in the list and take prompt action for airbag replacement or repair. This is a critical safety issue, as faulty airbags may cause serious injuries or even fatal accidents if deployed.
