Cyprus ranks below EU average

Fuel prices Cyprus remain below the European Union average for both petrol and diesel, according to the European Commission’s Weekly Oil Bulletin (06/04/2026).

For unleaded 95, Cyprus ranks 25th in the EU, with an average price of €1.513 per litre. The highest prices are recorded in Switzerland (€2,362.82 per 1,000 litres), Denmark (€2,322.78), Germany (€2,241.00), Greece (€2,073.00) and France (€2,031.62).

Diesel prices also lower than EU levels

In diesel prices, Cyprus ranks 21st, with an average of €1,844.00 per 1,000 litres.

The highest diesel prices are found in the Netherlands (€2,584.74), Denmark (€2,559.12), Germany (€2,434.00), Belgium (€2,309.67) and Finland (€2,257.95).

How fuel prices are calculated

Fuel price data for Cyprus is based on weekly collection by the Energy Service of the Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry.

Prices are calculated using a weighted average from 25 selected fuel stations, representing around 8% of total consumption. The methodology involves calculating average prices per company and then weighting them according to each company’s market share.

Prices continue to rise locally

Despite ranking below the EU average, fuel prices Cyprus have been increasing in recent weeks.

According to the latest Consumer Protection Service report (9 April), average retail prices reached €1.513 per litre for unleaded 95 and €1.844 for diesel.

Compared to 12 March, petrol prices have increased by 16 cents per litre, while diesel prices have risen by 38 cents.

Tax impact and latest prices

Current prices are also influenced by the fuel excise duty in place from April to June 2026, set at 8.33 cents per litre.

As of Friday morning, average prices stood at €1.520 per litre for unleaded 95, ranging from €1.444 to €1.599 across Cyprus.

Diesel averaged €1.844 per litre, with prices ranging between €1.747 and €1.899.
