Limassol Criminal Court on Thursday sentenced a 44-year-old football coach and club official to four years in prison after he admitted charges involving sexual offences against minors.
The court imposed concurrent prison sentences of four years. It also issued an order prohibiting him for three years after his release from providing services to children, working in environments involving children, or residing near organised areas frequently attended by minors.
Charges related to offences against minors
The charges included sexual abuse and sexual exploitation of a minor, child grooming for sexual purposes and accessing child sexual abuse material.
According to the case details presented before the court, the accused had communicated with underage football players through social media and messaging platforms.
Authorities said two minors were identified as victims in the case. One allegation involved an offer of money in exchange for sexual activity, while other allegations involved requests for inappropriate images and communication of a sexual nature.
The offences were reported to have taken place during June 2025.
Case was reported to authorities by parents
According to previously reported information, the case came to light after parents of young football players raised concerns and informed the family of a 16-year-old, who then reported the matter to authorities.
Police subsequently launched an investigation which led to the arrest and prosecution of the 44-year-old.
