Firefighting crews remain on high alert in Agia Anna

Date:

Authorities remain on heightened alert in Agia Anna following Monday’s major wildfire, with strong firefighting teams staying in the area throughout the night to monitor conditions and respond immediately to any flare-ups.

The Agia Anna wildfire remains under close surveillance as emergency services continue efforts to secure the affected area and prevent the fire from reigniting.

Patrols prevent major flare-ups

Firefighting crews carried out continuous patrols and inspections overnight to minimise the risk of renewed outbreaks after the extensive blaze.

According to the latest situation on the ground, only minor flare-ups were recorded. These were brought under control quickly and effectively by ground crews, preventing the fire from spreading further.

Aircraft continues aerial surveillance

Meanwhile, a firefighting aircraft continues to carry out precautionary patrol flights over the affected area.

The aircraft is expected to remain on surveillance duty for another two hours, strengthening monitoring efforts and enabling a rapid response should any new flare-ups occur.
