Fidias Panayiotou has declined to take up his seat in the Cyprus Parliament and will remain in the European Parliament, according to official information from the Ministry of Interior.
He reportedly informed the ministry himself through a formal letter confirming his decision.
Replacement seat to be filled
As a result, his parliamentary seat will be taken by Yiannis Laouris, who came second for Direct Democracy Cyprus in Nicosia, securing around 1,700 preference votes.
The development follows the conclusion of the 2026 parliamentary elections, which saw several new political formations enter the House of Representatives while others failed to secure representation.
