International coordination in the Sandy case investigation Cyprus
The Sandy case investigation in Cyprus has reached a critical stage, with the Police intensifying cooperation with international partners, including the FBI and Europol, as the inquiry advances.
Police spokesperson Vyron Vyronos told the Cyprus News Agency (CNA) that a new round of contacts with the FBI is expected soon to finalise arrangements for the arrival of specialised experts in Cyprus.
FBI experts to assist investigation
According to Vyronos, the Chief of Police has already held discussions with US counterparts, and a follow-up communication is expected to determine the exact timing of the FBI team’s arrival.
The Sandy case investigation in Cyprus will benefit from specialists in statement analysis, a field in which the FBI has long-standing expertise. However, the size of the team and duration of its stay have not yet been confirmed.
Authorities say their involvement is expected to support and accelerate key aspects of the investigation.
At the same time, Europol continues the forensic examination of evidence submitted by Cypriot authorities.
Vyronos said there is daily communication and information exchange, but no fixed timeline has been set for completion, due to the complexity and volume of material under review.
He added that the final findings are unlikely to be fully published, as they will be incorporated into the broader investigative process.
Investigation at advanced stage
Authorities confirmed that the Sandy case investigation in Cyprus is already at an advanced stage, with a substantial number of witness statements collected.
Police continue to analyse existing evidence while gathering additional testimony where necessary, as efforts intensify to complete the inquiry.
The case remains ongoing, with international cooperation playing a central role in its progression.
