The Cyprus Council of Ministers has approved the Easter allowance for low-income pensioners, reinforcing the government’s social policy to support vulnerable groups.
Allowance details and eligibility
The allowance has been set at €250, maintaining the same financial criteria applied in 2024 and 2025. Eligible households include single low-income pensioners with annual income up to €7,000 and two-person households with income up to €12,000. Income limits are adjusted according to household composition.
For 2026, the €30,000 deposit criterion will not be applied, simplifying access for qualifying pensioners.
Expected impact and expenditure
The government estimates approximately 10,050 beneficiaries, with a total expenditure of €2,512,500. Officials stressed that this initiative demonstrates a firm commitment to supporting low-income pensioners and strengthening social cohesion, especially during the Easter holiday period.
