Drousiotis asked to provide evidence after controversial allegations

Date:

Alleged “brotherhood” under fire

The recent social media posts by Volt candidate Makarios Drousiotis have sparked widespread controversy. His claims focus on an alleged “brotherhood” of Rosicrucians members, which, according to Drousiotis, included politicians, judges, and other influential figures and allegedly influenced key decisions and cases, including banking scandals and appointments.

Police initiate preliminary review

The Cyprus Police stated that following Drousiotis’ posts, Police Chief Themistos Arnaoutis instructed a senior officer to contact him to present evidence for investigation purposes. Drousiotis has reportedly requested time to consult with his lawyer before providing further details.

The Government, through its spokesperson, urged anyone with evidence to submit it to the appropriate authorities for examination.

Public figures respond to allegations

Several individuals mentioned in Drousiotis’ posts responded strongly:

  • Former Supreme Court judge Michalakis Christodoulou dismissed the claims as a “mishmash of a diseased mind” and expressed willingness to cooperate with any investigation. Regarding his ties with former President Nikos Anastasiades, he clarified that their interactions were limited to three formal meetings.
  • ALMA candidate Demetris Papadakis categorically rejected Drousiotis’ claims, denying any personal connection with the former Supreme Court judge and refuting alleged messages calling him “lord.”
  • EDEK Deputy President Morfakis Solomonides described the allegations as “baseless” and “outrageous,” calling them politically motivated character attacks ahead of elections. He also stated he is ready to provide personal data to authorities and urged Drousiotis to do the same.
  • Democratic Rally MP Nikos Tornaritis, also named in Drousiotis’ post, confirmed he has instructed his lawyers to examine the publication and urged authorities to fully investigate the claims.

Ongoing developments

As the controversy unfolds, both police and government officials emphasise the importance of evidence-based investigation, while public figures prepare to defend their reputations against the claims made by Drousiotis.
