A Cyprus-Lebanon ferry service will officially begin on 9 June 2026, marking the first regular passenger sea connection between the two countries in decades and opening a new chapter for maritime transport in the Eastern Mediterranean.
The service will operate between the port of Jounieh in Lebanon and Larnaca port in Cyprus, offering a journey time of just under four hours.
Ferry operated by Cedar Waves
The route will be run by Lebanese shipping company Cedar Waves, a subsidiary of Abou Merhi Cruises, which has already launched its online booking platform for passengers.
The vessel, also named Cedar Waves, is expected to complete the crossing in approximately 3 hours and 59 minutes, significantly faster than earlier estimates.
Schedule and travel times
The Cyprus-Lebanon ferry will operate three weekly services:
- Wednesdays at 09:00
- Sundays at 09:00
- Fridays at 10:00
Arrivals in Larnaca are expected shortly before 13:00 local time (Beirut time), offering a predictable and regular maritime link between the two countries.
Ticket prices and travel options
Fares for the Cyprus–Larnaca route have been set at competitive levels compared with earlier projections.
Indicative one-way prices include:
- Standard: around €88
- Plus: around €144
- Lounge: around €163
Initial estimates had placed ticket prices between €230 and €320, making the final pricing significantly more affordable for travellers.
Alternative to air travel
The new route is expected to provide a cheaper alternative to flights between Beirut and Larnaca, which during the summer season typically range from €160 to €235 for a one-way ticket.
While air travel remains faster, the ferry service is expected to appeal to passengers seeking lower costs, greater luggage flexibility, and a different Mediterranean travel experience.
