A major shipment of Gaza humanitarian aid has arrived, with 1,200 tonnes of essential supplies delivered under Cyprus’ Amalthea plan, the Foreign Ministry announced.
The aid package, which includes flour, pasta, and baby formula, is already being used to support local bakeries in Gaza, while hot meals for residents are expected to follow soon.
The delivery was coordinated with the Israeli authority COGAT and supported by partners including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, UNOPS under mechanism UN2720, and the World Central Kitchen, which is handling the preparation and distribution of meals.
The shipment departed from Limassol port in mid-August, with around 700 tonnes originating from Cyprus, purchased through donations from the UAE via the Amalthea Fund.
This initiative forms part of the maritime corridor established by Cyprus to deliver aid to Gaza — an effort launched last year that has received broad international support, including from the United States and the European Union.
