Cyprus Christmas villages flooded with thousands of visitors

Date:

We are already in the first ten days of December, and the Christmas spirit is gradually enveloping our daily lives.

Christmas villages have become an established tradition, attracting thousands of visitors who opt for a trip to the mountainous villages of our country. Kalopanagiotis, Lefkara, Fikardou, Agros, Laiki Geitonia, Kyperounta, Kiti, and Deryneia were the highlights this past weekend. Thousands of people visited the Christmas villages, which will remain open until January 6.

SigmaLive spoke with the community leader of Kalopanagiotis, who reported thousands of visitors in the village. However, he noted that the village managed to cope with the influx. It is worth mentioning that for Kalopanagiotis, the Police issued a statement urging the public to follow the instructions of the officers present in the village to manage traffic.

Lefkara was “swamped” with people, stated Mayor Sophocles Sophocleous. Speaking to SigmaLive, Mr Sophocleous said that only this word could describe the scene in Lefkara over the weekend.

Approximately 10,000 people visited Fikardou on Sunday alone, according to the village’s community leader, who also mentioned the thousands who arrived at Fikardou over the entire weekend.
