Cypriots travelling to the UK: New entry requirements

Date:

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that starting from 2 April 2025, an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) will be required for entry into the United Kingdom. The ETA can be obtained online for a fee of £10 (approximately €11,95).

In a statement, the Cypriot Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed the public of upcoming changes affecting travel to the UK, applicable to citizens from Cyprus and other countries worldwide.

Key details:

The UK Government has introduced the ETA system for foreign nationals entering the country for:

  • Holidays
  • Short-term studies
  • Business trips under six months
  • Entry under the “Creative Work” visa scheme

For Cypriot citizens:

Cypriots travelling to the UK for the above purposes must obtain an ETA. Applications can be submitted:

  • Via the “UK ETA” app
  • Online from 5 March 2025

The ETA costs £10 and will be valid for multiple trips over two years or until the passport expires. If a new passport is issued before the ETA’s validity ends, a new application will be required.

Exceptions:

Cypriots travelling to the UK for work or study purposes will still need to apply for the relevant visa or entry permit as per existing requirements. These individuals will not need an ETA.
