Condition of 4-year-old boy rescued from pool remains stable

Date:

A 4-year-old boy rescued from a pool at a hotel in Chloraka, Paphos, is being treated at Makarios Hospital in Nicosia, where doctors say his condition is stable.

According to police, the incident happened on Wednesday afternoon. Around 14:00, another guest spotted the boy unconscious at the bottom of the swimming pool and immediately pulled him out. He was rushed by ambulance to the Accident and Emergency Department of Paphos General Hospital before being transferred to Nicosia for further care.

The boy rescued from the pool had been accompanied by his 51-year-old mother. She told police he was playing at the shallow edge of the pool under her supervision, but while she turned to care for her younger child, the boy appears to have wandered into deeper water.

Police confirmed that a lifeguard was present at the time. The case is being investigated by Paphos CID.

It is noted that the boy’s family had only just arrived in Cyprus for their holidays from Israel.
