CIA and MIT reportedly planning secret airbase in occupied Cyprus

Date:

According to a report by the news website Intelligence Online (8/12/25), the CIA and the Turkish intelligence service MİT are planning to create a secret airbase in the occupied areas. This facility would be used for surveillance of the Middle East.

In the context of this cooperation, the CIA seeks to acquire, through intermediaries, a number of second-hand C-130 Hercules transport aircraft. The aim is to conduct low-profile operations without the possibility of detecting the aircraft.

This development comes at a time when, according to independent analyses, the MİT has significantly expanded its secret activities and involvement in international operations. This indicates its transformation into a more active pillar of Turkey’s foreign policy.

It is published by a French publishing group and focuses on backstage information and leaks from the world of espionage, often based on networks of officials, analysts and insiders in security services. Its reports are often used by international media and think tanks to understand closed or classified geopolitical processes.
