Voting will take place from 09:30 to 14:00 on Sunday.
Pro-Tychikos group seeks changes to Synod decision
Meanwhile, the Pro-Tychikos Initiative Group continues to seek amendments to the declaration of faith proposed by the Holy Synod, despite repeated statements from the Church leadership that the Synod’s decision is final and irreversible.
The Archbishop of Cyprus, Georgios, has reiterated that the Synod’s decision is binding and that the conditions outlined must be fulfilled if Tychikos is to be granted any future title or position within the Church.
Synod to decide Tychikos’ future on 23 June
According to Church sources, the decision to remove Tychikos from his post was definitive and irrevocable, and will not be reconsidered.
However, the Holy Synod is scheduled to convene on 23 June, where it will formally decide on Tychikos’ future.
