Charlie Kirk Turkey NATO remarks resurface after activist’s death

Date:

In the days after the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University, social media platforms have been flooded with videos and posts about his life and work. Among them, one video has gained particular traction, featuring Kirk criticising Turkey, denouncing President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and calling for Turkey’s expulsion from NATO.

Recognition of Armenian genocide

In the video, Kirk was asked about Israel–Turkey relations and Ankara’s treatment of Christian Armenians. He responded:

“We have a deeper problem with Turkey, beyond Israel. Turkey is a member of NATO. Yes. Which means we give them money. So it’s not Israel’s problem, it’s America’s problem, right? I am no friend of Turkey and I recognise the Armenian Genocide.”

“Turkey should be expelled”

Kirk continued by questioning Turkey’s place in the Western alliance:

“I don’t know why Turkey should be in NATO. I believe Turkey should be expelled from NATO for what they did to the Armenians and because they offer nothing to America. Nothing. And Erdogan is a very bad man becoming an Islamist dictator in a collapsing country. So I believe it is an American problem.”

The Charlie Kirk Turkey NATO remarks have resurfaced widely online, with many sharing the clip in light of his recent death.
