UN maintains strong presence in the area
Calm prevailed on Thursday in the Pergamos buffer zone after the tensions recorded the previous day, with occupying forces reportedly removing armoured vehicles from the area.
The situation remains closely monitored by the UNFICYP, which continues to maintain a strong operational presence.
UN and security forces maintain patrols
UN peacekeepers continue to carry out patrols, close roads and conduct strict checks across key points in the area.
Their presence remains visible at multiple locations within the buffer zone as they monitor developments on the ground in the Pergamos buffer zone.
Presence of multiple security actors
At specific UN-controlled points, local police presence is also observed alongside peacekeepers.
In parallel, police forces from the British Bases Police continue to maintain an increased presence for enhanced monitoring of the wider area under their jurisdiction.
Military presence on hillside position
On a nearby elevated position where an antenna is installed, military presence remains visible. Although armoured activity observed yesterday has subsided, a flag and communications equipment remain in place.
Situation stable but monitored
Despite the reduced tension, the Pergamos buffer zone remains under close surveillance by all involved authorities, with security forces maintaining readiness and visibility across key locations.
